SEO for the Healthcare, Pharmaceutical and Medical Industries

People are always searching online and the place most users go to for this information in Australia is without question; Google.

Australian’s are now going to Google daily looking for: treatments, diseases, cures, doctor & medical centre reviews, mental health, cosmetic surgeons, dentists, optometrists, medical specialists, local chemists, people doing their own research, pharmaceutical products, basically anything to do with the health care industry and their body.

If your website has not been optimised for SEO then its not going to get found by these curious and in many cases needy and willing to engage customers.

The consequences for this are very simple, you loose out on the potential business that a website that has search engine optimisation (SEO), could bring in.

seomedicalEvery one needs clients and customers and this includes professionals in the health care industry as well as pharmaceutical companies looking to drive traffic to a newly developed product on their website. No one is immune from this; no matter your niche or area of service, you will need your website to be found and you will want people to either buy from it or at least make an appointment to come and see you.

At SEO SYDNEY EXPERTS we have the SEO know how to not only drive enormous amounts of traffic through to your website but to also keep online visitors coming back by maintaining these great rankings for your medical business.

This is achieved in 2 stages. We firstly look at your current website and offer the necessary recommendations to make the website more Google compliant. This is phrased ‘on page SEO’ & its’ a very important component of your online marketing.

The second stage is the part where we really excel in SEO is our effective and proven ‘off page’ SEO. We are able to implement a back linking and content marketing strategy that will see your website dominate the online environment for your particular specialty, service or product.

You no longer have to sit by and watch your competitors on page 1. You may know a doctor who has been on the top of the search results, has expanded their business and you can’t work out why. The answer is so simple. They have been doing SEO whilst you have been doing nothing.

Sure, you may have posted a few articles or blogs but that is going to have little effect without a SEO company like us getting involved and looking at your entire online presence.

People have a fundamental trust in content that has been published by the doctors, specialists or healthcare professionals.

The first thing people do when they notice something not quite right wit their body is type the symptoms straight into Google and see what professionals are saying. Basically, it’s the first port of call and users are into self diagnosis these days.

As soon as a symptom appears, they are straight onto Google looking it up. Most things that are published and are ranking are deemed honest, reliable and trustworthy; especially if it is backed up by a medical experts name, or website.

Promotion of your content via SEO is going to enhance your profile online and really drive a tremendous amount of traffic to your surgery, practice or product inquiry.

Tip # 1: Ask a copywriter to write the content for your website and not the SEO team. Your SEO provider can assist you about optimizing the content with targeted keywords and advice on pages that need to be written.

Have you lost your Google ranking? Don’t panic.

Lost your SEO rankings? We can help.

So, you have worked very hard to finally get your Google ranking where you would like it to be. That is, on the first page of Google for your main keywords. You have watched your website over the last 3 to 4 months slowly and gradually make it’s way from page 100 all the way up the rankings. How fantastic is that? Business is booming and the phone is ringing off the hook. You could not be more happier.

You can see all the sales leads start to flow in and all those juicy new contracts being signed up. Business is great, you are employing new staff and you are gaining access to a whole new range of clients never thought possible. All of this is due to your rankings and the fabulous work that your SEO company is doing.

Then all of a sudden you go to check your SEO rankings and you get the shock of your life! You are no longer there. Your heart starts to race, your start to panic and for the life of you, you can’t imagine why this has happened.

shutterstockLet me explain what has happened.

This is a common occurrence and can happen and does happen to all types of businesses that have gone down the path of using an SEO company that has absolutely no idea of what they are doing. Essentially, you have been scammed and have used an SEO agency that has simply taken you money.

We have seen this happen time and time again and I cannot tell you how many calls I receive each day from distressed business owners who are in deep trouble because of this.

If you feel that this has happened to you and are absolutely freaking out about what are the appropriate next steps, then please let us know on 02 9360 8514 and we will be able to turn things around for you and get you out of this dreaded Google penalty and rankings drop.

There are basically two types of lost Google rankings. There are the slow gradual loss of ranks which happen over a period of time. Not ideal, but this is the best type of rank loss ( if you were to have one). This means that you have done nothing wrong in regards to your SEO, but your competition for your main keywords has decided to be more aggressive, hence they have over taken you. The best way to counter balance this is to be a little more aggressive with your own SEO campaign. This should work and over time you will start to see your rankings slowly climb back.

A point to note here is that you can’t be too zealous with your SEO campaign or you will end up getting a Google penalty which is described in point number 2. Take things nice and slowly and do not rush with your link building. This is the worse this you can do. Remember not to panic.

The second reason, why your website has suddenly plummeted is because of website penalty. This is the most common problem and there are a few reasons why this has happened.

The main reason is that your SEO company has over optimised your main keywords and this appears ‘spammy’ in the eyes of Google. Basically, Google likes your linking profile to be as organic as possible and if there are suddenly thousands of in bound links, then this will trigger and alert within the search engines. Hence, your website will be either de-indexed or suddenly drop. Many SEO companies in order to full full their promise to you over the phone of super fast rankings will have to over optimse in order to keep their end of the bargain. If they say they will rank you fast, they will do it but this is not the right way to go about things.

What are the Steps Involved in Getting Your SEO Ranking Back?

Firstly, and I know this is hard, but don’t stress too much, there is a solution and we can help all you need to do is digest these points and then leave it to the experts to help you get out of this situation.

1) We have to work out the exact links that have been made. We need to look at your whole linking profile and we do this by gaining access to your Google web master tools account. Most site we do see will have some serious toxic links and our role is to get rid of these ASAP.

2) We then look at ways to remove all  of these links. This is the hard part but our team know the best way to facilitate this. Obviously, because you are in this position, you have used a SEO provider who has used a poor linking strategy and we may have to spend some time on this step, due to the difficulty in getting in touch with all the web owners, where your links are on.

3) Whilst we are implementing this de linking we will check all your ‘on page’ titles, tags and meta descriptions to make sure that these have been done properly. In some cases a quick fix here and your problems are solved. We also make sure that your web content is unique and not copied from any other sites, which could play a major part in this. I could go on for ages about content marketing and the relevance of unique content, but if your site is a blatant copy of another, you will be penalised.

4) Some links may be OK and we make sure that we keep these. Some links are however, low value and are poor quality. In the past these types of links were OK and did have an impact on your rankings. However, due to the over popularity and misuse of this type of SEO, Google has devalued the credibility of these types of in bound links. We will address this and ensure that your website has the best and most highly ranked links associated with it.

5) Finally and we do this when we have ticked all the boxes, and are totally compliant, we submit your new cleaner website for a reconsideration request. Nine times out of ten we make sure that we get you out of the penalty and you start to rank again.

If you have lost your SEO rankings and need to get back to where you were before please get in touch with us today – we will turn your nightmare around very quickly for you and get back those much loved rankings. We are on 02 9360 8514. 10 quick and easy blogging tips for small business

webdesign-tipsA company or business blog with a great looking website design can  have a powerful impact on your search engine rankings and in turn impact on your business by getting more eyes on your website.  A blog will generally cost you very little to implement and it’s return on investment is often well worth it. Plus, it only requires you to be active on it a couple of hours a week or month depending on how much time you have available. Blogging is an integral part of SEO and should now be considered a fundamental component of your marketing mix. Following are some great tips for your blogging strategy.

Firstly what is a blog?

I think wikipedia can explain it better than anyone, so just have a quick read and you should get a better understanding.

10 tips for an effective blog:

1.    Your blog is really a tool to communicate with your audience – do not try to over sell or promote to hard on this platform. Ideally, this should be used to highlight a point or some recent news. Perhaps something that is important to you that you think your clients might find interesting. It could be an industry update or an important news item. By this we not asking you to write about Donald Trump or the latest goings on in the middle east, unless this related to your industry and is very specific.
2.    Have fun when writing your blog. The more you think of it as a chore the more laborious the task and the end result will be a poorly worded, stuffy corporate document. Write in a conversational tone that engages your readers. Boring them to death will simply encourage them to leave the blog.
3.    Try to blog on a regular basis. Starting a blog, getting enthusiastic about it and then loosing interest will serve no benefit at all. Try to maintain the energy, enthusiasm and you will be rewarded.
4.    Your web page and blog titles are really very important. Keep these simple and to the point and try to match them against what you think users will be looking or searching for. A title is what the search engines read so knowing this in advance will be beneficial.
5.    Blog about topics related to your business and subjects that are indirectly related to your business but with a slant that will provide the reader with useful and informative information.
6.    Keep then snappy and short but also do not make it too short. I like to keep all the blogs on our site between 750 to 1000 words. You don’t want to bore your readers. If on the other hand you have a lot to say or have a very engaging story then blog away and go for it.
7.    A successful blog will drive traffic to your website. A good idea is to link between blog articles to further boost your SEO rankings. Some articles may have similar information so it’s a great idea to link between these types of articles.
8.    Avoid visitors leaving comments, but if you are keen on them doing so, then be sure to monitor and address any span or nasty malicious blog comments. Stay on top of this and never allow this to get out of control.
9.    Avoid using a third party as a blog as it should always be part of your URL and within the structure.
10.    Once your blog is live, think about adding videos and more content over time. Keep it evolving, changing and always refreshing the copy. The search engines love this. The following article: is a really good read on ways you can achieve this.

Search Engine Optimization Rewards
Google absolutely loves fresh copy and blogging can certainly satisfy the demands of these engines. By continually putting new content live, you will over time, become and authority in your field and start to dominate your industry online. I know a lot of people I speak to shake their heads in disbelief when confronted with the task of blog writing, but take it from someone who is an avid blogger; it does get easier. Like with everything it does take lots of practice but your will notice the level of your blogging skills start to improve over time. You might  in fact start to enjoy it.
