Some websites simply do not respond to any SEO work. They are stuck on page 2 or 3 of Google and no matter what you do or the work you put into the site, nothing seems to change.

Sure you may rise a couple of positions (which kinda gives you some false hope), but like always when you check your rankings the next day, they have fallen back to where they were before.

This is a continuous cycle and for most business owners it’s killing their leads and inquires.

They are hurting badly!

Most SEO agencies will simply link build in the hope that this will help your website and never ever look at the root cause of the issue which is basically your ‘on page’ stuff that needs to be corrected.

So, what’s ‘on page’, I hear you ask?

It’s everything that you can see with the website when you look at it.

It’s as important if not more important than link building and you’re ‘on page’ will have a massive impact on your Google rankings. If your SEO agency has not done this then I suggest you do it yourself and make these changes or at least tell your web developers or SEO agency to do these ASAP!!

The first SEO tip to help improve your rankings is site speed.

This is a no brainer and all pages of your website should be loading quickly.

In fact, your site should load in less than 2 seconds. Any longer and you have an issue. This is totally understandable as people want sites to load quickly.

Sites that take ages to load are annoying and people simply exit these sites and look elsewhere. Google can detect this type of consumer behaviour via ‘bounce rates’ and will penalise slow sites with bad rankings.

There are heaps of tools you can use to check your websites loading speed but we use Google’s PageSpeed insights that make it super easy to check the load times of your site. You can find it on the link provided:

https://developers.google.com/speed/pagespeed/insights/

So this is a really quick way to improve rankings. Do it and see what happens, you may be pleasantly surprised by how quickly your rankings recover.

The second quick SEO tip to improve your rankings is to adjust the titles on all pages of your website.

If you have a WordPress site this is easy to do.

Just log in to the site, get into the CMS and go to the home page of the site. If Yoest is installed you can easily change the title of the page to make it more relevant to what your business is about.

For example, we are an SEO agency so our home page title is all about SEO – you can see it below how well structured it is. It’s a really competitive space so we added symbol # 1 is there to make it stand out.

Have a good look at the title of your website, see what your competitors are doing and see if you can come up with something catchy, creative and relevant to your business.

There are heaps of companies out there that have never looked at their page titles and wonder why their rankings suck.

We put Sydney in the title because we are happy to take clients from all over Sydney but if you’re looking to only get local clients make sure the local area is in the title.

For example, if you’re a plumber in Bondi, you’d want to have the words in the title like Plumbers Bondi or Plumbers Bondi Beach.

A good way to get ideas for your title is to Google the main keywords and see what comes up on page 1 and study this. Don’t copy exactly what others have done, but use it as a guide.

Google reads these titles to work out what the page content is about and ranks the site accordingly. Obviously, there are loads of other ranking criteria and signals but this is a really important one. Do it today, wait a couple of days and see the results.

The last quick SEO tip that should help your rankings improve significantly is to make sure that your site is mobile friendly.

Simply put, people search on their mobiles all the time and if your site is not responsive or mobile-friendly, expect to get hammered with your rankings.

If you haven’t updated your site recently or can’t remember when you last contacted your web designer about a web refresh, then your site might not be rendering correctly on mobile.

This is a huge issue and one that is certainly affecting your SEO rankings.

So there you have it; 3 really quick ways to improve your rankings. They are not rocket science & they’re not hard to do.

If your sitting there wondering why you are not getting better Google results, try these and see what happens. I bet you anything you’ll see a marked improvement.
